SINAI provides an enjoyable learning environment for our young students. The satisfaction they derive from school experiences assures continued learning outside of the formal classroom setting. Our core curriculum consists of language arts, math, science, and social studies. In Judaic studies, areas of concentration include T’filla, Hebrew language, laws and customs, Chumash, Mishna, and Gemara. Emphasis is placed on building basic functional skills as well as increasing funds of knowledge. Skill focus enables students to build upon areas of strength, instilling in them the confidence necessary to implement compensatory strategies needed to meet the challenges presented by their learning disabilities. Classes range in size from six to nine students. Groups are constructed taking into account similarities in needs and learning styles, teacher recommendations, standardized testing, informal assessment, and maturity and skill level. All students participate in the nonacademic activities offered in the typical yeshiva experience. In all subjects, teachers employ a multi-sensory approach which integrates the use of sight, sound, speech and touch. This approach reinforces meaningful learning. |
